About Portola Pharmacy
Since 1946, Portola Pharmacy has been proudly serving the El Sereno community with personalized care and trusted pharmacy services. Acquired by Dr. Geneva Chen, Pharm.D., Ph.D. in 2016, the pharmacy has grown from a traditional neighborhood pharmacy into a comprehensive healthcare destination offering customized compounding, medication therapy management, immunizations, diabetes education, health screenings, and patient consultations.
Dr. Chen brings extensive experience as a pharmacist, researcher, and former pharmacy professor. She works closely with physicians and patients to develop personalized medication solutions that help improve health outcomes. Her dedication to patient care has earned numerous honors, including the 2015 "Pharmacist of the Year" Award from the San Gabriel Valley Pharmacist Association, a Congressional Certificate of Recognition, and recognition from the Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Collaborative.
As the only compounding pharmacy serving El Sereno and surrounding communities, Portola Pharmacy is committed to providing high-quality care with a personal touch. About Us
Portola Pharmacy is owned and operated by Geneva Chen, Pharm.D, Ph.D. Dr. Chen has had extensive training in pharmacy compounding and consulting, and has also worked as a research scientist and pharmacy college professor. She is highly dedicated to her patients and practice, working closely with physicians and patients to achieve excellent results for each custom-made prescription.
Dr. Chen has won several awards, including the 2015 "Pharmacist of the Year," presented by the San Gabriel Valley Pharmacist Association. Dr. Chen has also been invited to present her research to professional associations, such as the American Association for Cancer Research, and has published articles in prestigious journals such as Pharmaceutical Research and the American Journal of Pharmacy Educator.
